I graduated last week!
Over the course of the past two months I have crashed an office party, danced in a conga line, received an eye exam from a mad scientist optometrist, and dug up the grave of a deceased aunt to steal her rubies…all in my Level 1 Improv class!
We graduated last week and I was sad that class was over.
The entire experience was as funny, joyful and ridiculous as it sounds and I had some of the best belly laughs I’ve had in years.
Here are some of the lessons I learned from improv class:
1. Your first thought is (usually) your best thought.
2. You are enough exactly the way you are.
3. People are naturally funny. Trying hard to be funny makes you not funny.
4. Trying new things is awesome! No matter how it turns out, you’re bound to learn and grow from the experience.
5. When you listen, are generous, and cooperative, you can create something beautiful with someone else.
If you feel stuck, or in a rut, I encourage you to try something new. Maybe take that (painting, writing, dance) class you've been talking about for years!
